The Bauxite main component is alumina, which is hydrated alumina with little impurities. It is a kind of mineral. White or gray color.the density is about 3.45g/cm3, hardness is 1-3, opaque and brittle. It's very difficult to melt. Insoluble in water, soluble in sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide solution. It is mainly used for aluminum smelting and refractory.

There are 49 countries were known of plenty of bauxite stocked. China is one of the richest in bauxite resources, about 3.7 billion tons, ranking in the forefront of the world. China, together with Guinea, Australia and Brazil,all of them are big countries in bauxite resources around the world. However, only Guyana and China produce bauxite for refractories. Other countries have high ferrum content bauxite with low alumina content, which is mostly used for aluminum smelting and grinding materials
Bauxite in the refractory industry usually refers to the bauxite with calcined Alumina more than 48% and low Ferrum content. The high bauxite clinker is the Calcined Bauxite. The clinker is gray, light yellow and dark gray. It is mainly used for high alumina refractories and also for making fused brown corundum. Bauxite clinker is classified according to the content of Alumina and impurities such as Ferrum, as well as the bulk density and water absorption of clinker.
