Description
Aluminium hydroxide, Al(OH)3, is found in nature as the mineral gibbsite and its three much rarer polymorphs: bayerite, doyleite, and nordstrandite. Aluminium hydroxide is amphoteric, it has both basic and acidic properties. Closely related are aluminium oxide hydroxide, AlO(OH), and aluminium oxide or alumina (Al2O3), the latter of which is also amphoteric.
Aluminum hydroxide is used to treat heartburn, upset stomach, sour stomach, or acid indigestion. Aluminum hydroxide is also used to reduce phosphate levels in people with certain kidney conditions.

Usage
- Use as flame retardant. Aluminum hydroxide filler is pure white powder solid, particle size can be processed according to production, non-toxic and harmless, as a filler processing whiteness is not easy to change, with filling, flame retardant, smoke elimination three functions
- Used as papermaking filler. Aluminum hydroxide filler as a coating pigment has many advantages: high whiteness, fine particle size and uniform particle size distribution, flake shape, using it as a pigment can improve the whiteness of coated paper, opacity, smoothness and ink absorption performance. Using it instead of titanium dioxide, without reducing the whiteness and opacity of the paper, can save the cost, improve the gloss of the finished paper, improve the mimeograph performance.
- Used as toothpaste material. The light friction properties of aluminium hydroxide fillers to clean and polish teeth meet this requirement. And its chemical inertness is compatible with other ingredients in toothpaste: in addition, aluminum hydroxide filler has good coating properties.
