Aluminium hydroxide, Al(OH)₃, is found in nature as the mineral gibbsite and its three much rarer polymorphs: bayerite, doyleite, and nordstrandite. Aluminium hydroxide is amphoteric, it has both basic and acidic properties. Closely related are aluminium oxide hydroxide, AlO(OH), and aluminium oxide or alumina (Al₂O₃), the latter of which is also amphoteric.
Aluminum hydroxide is used to treat heartburn, upset stomach, sour stomach, or acid indigestion. Aluminum hydroxide is also used to reduce phosphate levels in people with certain kidney conditions.
Aluminum hydroxide may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Usage

1, Aluminum hydroxide flame retardant, with anti droplet, promote carbonization, non-volatile, no seepage, can be retained in polymer medium effect for a long time. And non-toxic, good stability, high temperature does not produce toxic gas, but also can reduce the amount of smoke when plastic combustion, and low price, wide range of sources.
2, The dehydration heat absorption temperature of aluminum hydroxide is low, about 235~350ºC, the flame retardant effect is significant at the beginning of plastic combustion. ATH can significantly slow down the thermal decomposition temperature of PE(polyethylene), PP(polypropylene), PVC(polyvinyl chloride) and ABS(butadiene/styrene copolymer) when the addition amount is 40%, and has good flame retardant and smoke reduction effect.
